NATIONAL YOUTH ORCHESTRA
The National Youth Orchestra consists of 150 players between the ages of 13 and 19 who meet during the school holidays at New Year, Easter and summer for intensive two week courses. They are famous for their commitment, enthusiasm and expertise and their annual appearance at the BBC Proms is awaited with expectation and always attracts maximum audiences.
ANDREW LITTON conductor
Andrew Litton, who was born in New York City, is an international conductor who has worked with more than 110 of the world's famous orchestras.
CHARLOTTE HELLEKAUT mezzo soprano
The Swedish mezzosoprano Charlotte Hellekaut has achieved great success in America and is seen as a superb operatic performer. The qualities of her singing and acting have been recognised as both unusual and outstanding. She has performed in most of the leading American opera houses and is rapidly establishing a similar reputation in Europe. She has worked with many leading conductors including Sir Georg Solti.
